Division
A number of training program, workshop, seminar, webinar and
other National programs were carried out through active
involvement of the Training & Extension division. Some major
academic activities were Workshop on GCP & Ethics, Pathogen
Training program, Weekly seminars etc. Among the other program,
Yoga Day, Science day, Foundation Day, Blood donation camps were
some noticeable contribution.
Model Rural Health Research Unit, North Bengal Medical
College, Darjeeling
A G+2 building was received from the Government of West Bengal
and handed over to ICMR-NICED for establishment of the MRHRU at
the campus of the North Bengal Medical College, Sushrutanagar in
May, 2023. Repair and Renovation of the building will be carried
out by the Central Public Works Department. The MRHRU was made
operational in October, 2023 after partial recruitment of staff.
The staff were initially trained at ICMR-NICED. Local Research
Advisory Committee was formed as per the guidelines and meeting
conducted to approve research projects and related works. The
MRHRU also carried out capacity building on research methods
among the local doctors and research professionals. The Outreach
activities were initiated and the first research project was
also started. The MRHRU-Darjeeling is gradually escalating
functions with newer instruments and research activities.
