| GUIDELINES FOR SHORT-TERM TRAINING
FOR THE STUDENTS
NICED conducts research on acute diarrhoeal diseases of diverse
etiologies as well as typhoid fever, infective hepatitis and
HIV/AIDS related epidemiological research and screening. Aims of
this Institute are to conduct research on these diseases in both
basic and applied aspects. Institute also trains health
professionals for better management and prevention of diarrhoeal
diseases and for rapid and correct diagnosis of etiological
agents. As part of the mission for increasing human resources,
NICED also conducts short-term training for students in the
field of Bio-medical research to promote interest and aptitude
for research. The main objective of this programme is to provide
an opportunity to students to familiarize themselves with
research methodologies and techniques by being associated for a
short duration on ongoing research programme or by undertaking
independent projects.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE, SELECTION AND TUITION FEE
All applications for student training should be submitted
through the Principal/ Head of the Institute.
The selection of the candidate for studentship will be done
after screening the bio-data. The decision of the authority in
this regard will be final. Requests for reconsideration will not
be entertained. Placement will be done on the availability of
the respective scientists. Selected candidates will have to pay
a sum of Rs 2000/- (Rupees two thousands only) per month as
tuition fee for the training. The fee is waived for the
Universities in West Bengal. Individual colleges will not be
exempted.
On completing the training one copy of detailed report on the
work done by the student, duly signed by the respective
supervisor/ scientist should be submitted to In-charge of the
training. Students will be awarded a certificate on successful
completion of the project work.
Application deadline: April 30 each year.
ELIGIBILITY
Students who are undergoing courses i.e B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc. in
different discipline of Life Sciences or MBBS.
DURATION
Two to six months
ACCOMMODATION
The candidates will have to make their own arrangements for
accommodation during the training period.
